A pickem pool is a weekly football prediction game. Members pick which team will win each NFL game, then compare results after the games are played. It is popular because the rules are obvious even for casual fans.
1. Create the pool
The commissioner names the pool and gets a private URL. That URL is the invite link. The commissioner browser receives a secure cookie that unlocks the settings page for that pool.
2. Members join
Members open the pool URL and enter a display name. Pickem Maker stores a member ID in a browser cookie so the same browser can come back each week without a login.
3. Pick weekly winners
Each week shows every regular-season NFL game. Members pick the home or away team for each matchup and save all picks at once. A game can be changed until its kickoff time. After kickoff, that game's pick is locked.
4. Follow standings
When games finish, correct picks count as wins and incorrect or missing picks count as losses. The standings table shows total wins, total losses, and a weekly breakdown so everyone can see where the leaderboard moved.
5. Commissioner controls
The commissioner can rename the pool, remove members, lock the pool, and delete it. Locking a pool blocks new joins and pick changes. It is useful when a season starts and the group wants a fixed roster.
